The wonderful and amazing Usha Rani has been transfered in. On Saturday, she took the lead as the headmistress for the school. Here is a picture of her back in January. Below is something she gave me today which I had to share.
1. A teacher should have regard and reverence for the profession.
2. A teacher should have love, patience, affection, and consideration.
3. A teacher should know the names of the students. It is important that the teacher identify every child in the class. When a teacher uses a wrong name, children get hurt.
4. A teacher should be a good student. What we have learned is only a handful and what we have to learn is as big as the universe. So a good teacher has to be eager to update herself professionally and be able to make use of modern technology.
5. A teacher should not be egoistic. A teacher should be humble, selfless, kind, and understanding towards children and her colleagues.
6. A teacher should be strict, not rigid or harsh. Point out mistakes tactfully and correct them.
7. A teacher should be a good role model. Always be truthful and honest, polite and calm, speak gently and be punctual.
8. A teacher should enter the classroom with a clear and calm mind and concentrate on the work at hand.
9. As soon as you enter the class, greet the children. Ask a few thought provoking questions pertaining to the lesson as an introduction and then proceed.
10. A teacher should be well prepared. Be able to answer the questions intelligently.
Finally, if you start forgetting the names of your students, if you lose patience with them, or if you lack interest and enthusiasm when you start school, remember it is time to quit.
A teacher’s job is the noblest of all professions. It is also a responsible one, since she is the one who moulds the children and makes them future citizens. So only those who can contribute in making the students good human beings and intelligent ones should take up this job.
